Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Patna

Upon arrival in Patna, drive straight towards the hotel.
Founded by the Magadha ruler Ajatasatru in 490 BC, Patna is one of the oldest inhabited places in the world. Being the capital of Bihar, it serves as an important administrative and educational centre of the state. Some of the major attractions of the place are Golghar, Patna Planetarium, Takht SriHarmandir Ji and Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udyan.
Soon upon reaching the hotel, check-in and ease yourself. After relaxing for some time, you can explore the city on your own.
Later, return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 2 - Patna to Vaishali | Sightseeing in Vaishali | Vaishali to Patna

On this day, get ready to leave for Vaishali, which is about 31 km away.
Earlier served as a capital of Licchavi clan, Vaishali is among the first democratic republics in the world that flourished in the 6th century BC. Apart from being a significant archaeological site, this place is also renowned as an important Buddhist pilgrimage centre. The region also holds prominent position among Jains as it was the birthplace of Lord Mahavira.

While exploring this ancient place, see the famous Ashokan Pillar. Built by the Mauryan emperor Ashoka at Kolhua, this pillar was carved out from a single red sandstone piece. It rises up to a height of 18.3 m, surmounted by a life-size figure of lion.

Next, you can visit the Bawan Pokhar Temple, which owes its creation during the Pala period. This old temple enshrines numerous images of Hindu gods and goddesses.

From here, you can move forward to the popular Buddhist Stupa. This stupa is of utmost significance to Buddhists as it enshrines about one-eighth of the sacred ashes of Lord Buddha.

Following which you can visit Abhishek Pushkarna. The water of this coronation tank is believed to be so sacred that every elected representative of Vaishali is anointed here before his swearing ceremony.

Afterwards, you can proceed towards Kundalpur, which is the birthplace of three disciples of Lord Mahavira. The place holds an important religious significance among Jains as it is believed that Lord Mahavira had spent his 22 years here.
Later, visit Raja Vishal ka Garh – an ancient parliament house.
After the wonderful sightseeing tour, drive to Patna for an overnight stay.

Day 3 - Proceed to Bodhgaya via Nalanda and Rajgir (180 km/approx. 5 hours)

Freshen up in the morning and get ready for an exciting Bodhgaya tour. En route, visit Nalanda and Rajgir.
Located at a distance of about 80 km from Patna, Nalanda is renowned worldwide as a prominent centre for Buddhist learning. The place is most noted for its Nalanda University, which is the first residential international university of the world.
As you reach here, you can commence your local sightseeing tour by visiting the Nalanda University Ruins Archaeological Complex. Recognised as UNESCO World Heritage Site, this site was a prominent monastic-cum-educational institute in 5th century AD.
From here, you can move forward to another major attraction of the place, the Great Stupa. It was a result of seven consecutive accretions that were done to preserve the original stupa. From its top, the commanding views of the entire university can be captured.
Next, you can visit the Nalanda Archaeological Museum, which lies opposite the Nalanda University. Some of the ancient artefacts that are kept on display in this museum are Hindu and Buddhist bronze sculptures, potteries, coins and stone inscriptions. Besides, some undamaged statues of Lord Buddha are also preserved here.
Afterwards, you can proceed towards the Nalanda Multimedia Museum to learn about the history of Nalanda. Here, the history is displayed through interesting multimedia presentations and 3D animations.
After a visit to this museum, now move forward to Nava Nalanda Mahavihara. This is one of the renowned institutes for learning Pali and Buddhist literature.
Next, visit the Hiuen Tsang Memorial Hall, which was built in the loving memory of the Chinese traveller, Hiuen Tsang.
Later, you can move forward to pay your visit to Surajpur Baragaon. Dedicated to Sun, the temple is frequented by pilgrims during the months of April-May and October-November.
After a pleasurable sightseeing tour of the place, drive towards Rajgir, which is about 14 km from away.
On your arrival here, you can proceed towards Vishwa Shanti Stupa. Also, referred to as Griddhkoot, this stupa is perched at an average elevation of about 400 m. The stupa is bordered by four dazzling statues of Lord Buddha on all the four corners.
Afterwards, you can opt for exploring other monasteries, located on the surrounding hills.
Later, drive towards Bodhgaya, about 77 km from here via NH 82.
Located in the Gaya district of Bihar, Bodhgaya is one of the most important religious Buddhist sites, other than Lumbini, Sarnath and Kushinagar. The region is closely associated with the life of Lord Buddha as it is this place only where he attained enlightenment.
On your arrival in Bodhgaya, check-in at the hotel and stay overnight.

Day 4 - Sightseeing in Bodhgaya

Freshen up in the morning and get ready to commence your sightseeing tour of Bodhgaya.
Pay your reverence at the sacred Mahabodhi Temple, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of the earliest temples of Buddhism, it is entirely constructed in brick, and has with stood the ravages of time. This 170 feet high temple enshrines a black stone statue of Mahatma Buddha. The temple complex also houses Vajrasana or diamond throne, which is the enlightenment seat of Lord Buddha.
After a visit to this temple, you can explore some other temples in the vicinity.
Later, come back to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 5 - Transfer from Bodhgaya to Varanasi (250 Kms / Approx 6 Hrs)

On this day, after having breakfast, you can leave for Varanasi.

Situated along the banks of the Ganga River, Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh is among the oldest inhabited cities in the world. This holy city, also known as Banaras or Kashi, is one of the significant pilgrims of Hindus and Jains.

Soon after your arrival in Varanasi, check-in at the hotel and spend the day at leisure.

Thereafter, retire to your hotel room.

Day 6 - Sightseeing in Varanasi

As per the hotel plan

Early in the morning, cherish a boat ride on the glistening waters of Ganga River. Then, come back for your breakfast. Thereafter, visit the sacred attractions of the city like the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Durga Temple and Benaras Hindu University.

Later, return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 7 - Departure from Varanasi

Post breakfast, drive to the airport to board your return flight.
